What you’ll be doing
The Thames Water Inventory and Supply team are the custodians of network & critical materials, field engineering parts & tools and mobile plant which are managed through our distribution centres, strategic distribution hubs and depots.  Operating on a 24/7 -365 basis to provide real time distribution and equipment service to support the Thames Water businesses in meeting our service commitments.

As a Logistics Scheduler you will be responsible for understanding resource requirements and constraints to prioritise our resource effectively in order to support the demands of the field engineers work. This role carries a high level of responsibility and requires an organised person who is able to plan efficiently, will engage well within the team and has the ability to provide clear communication out to the wider stakeholders involved. Key duties will include:

  • Engaging with Planning team and Enablers to ascertain workload and requirements to prioritise jobs both on a planned and reactive basis
  • Planning and allocating collection and delivery tasks to our Support Drivers with appropriate skill set and their respective operating geography through SWIMS (system)
  • Planning job for works preparation (SLG, cone offs and letter drops) using SWIMS to ensure all materials and equipment are delivered to correct address and are setup ahead of start of works
  • Ensuring that Support Drivers maintain a health and safety work environment and indorse the Thames Waters Health & Safety commitment
  • Managing, allocating and prioritising the Support Drivers work stack to meet priority jobs (2 hour/4 hour) that need to be completed
  • Monitoring progress of jobs by regular updates from planning team, dig teams (gangs) and supervisors to identify if any addition materials, plant, equipment are required
  • Providing daily reports of resource utilisation and planned/ reactive jobs completed to maintain Inventory Field Operations service commitments
  • Monitoring collections to ensure no overruns and daily engagement with planning team to ensure that permit end dates do not expire – any potential fines should be immediately escalated to supervisors
  • £22,000 to £25,000 depending on skills and experience
  • 45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 07.30am to 17.00pm
  • This is a Permanent, Full-Time position
  • Based at Kidlington

What you should bring to the role

  • Experience in an office based Logistics, Planning or Scheduling role
  • Highly organised and have a good understanding of work management processes and systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, and good scheduling/ planning skills
  • Strong IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Office and competent to work with business-critical systems such as Salesforce, SAP, SWIMS or alike
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment as well as proactively prioritise work
