What you’ll be doing
As part of the Environmental Compliance team, you will help to raise awareness and visibility of compliance against all environmental statutory requirements by bringing an increased focus to, and tracking, our compliance position. This is to ensure environmental performance can be understood and improved upon.
Key areas of accountability will include:
- Supporting the Environmental Standards & Assurance team across priority work areas to bring a focus on compliance, enabling delivery of external commitments made regarding improving environmental performance.
- Coordinating and tracking all necessary information and documentation to support regulatory investigations into environmental performance.
- Responding to any relevant regulatory investigations into environmental performance.
- Responding to stakeholder requests for data and understanding the context of this data and what it means for our compliance position.
- Lead the delivery of the Compliance Assessment System (CAS), developing a programme of work to expand compliance assessments across all permitted activities and embedding a BAU process.
- Building strong working relationships across business units including operations, asset management, engineering, and strategy & regulation.
We’re looking for you to:
- Experience is desirable in an environmental discipline, for example, flow and EDM, environmental permitting or environmental compliance, but also important, is the ability to understand and interpret regulatory requirements about data assessment.
- Programme delivery experience is essential as you will be leading and driving the delivery of what is needed.
- This will be a challenging role where timescales and requirements keep changing, so it is essential you are adaptable and flexible in your approach, with a willingness to focus on different priorities as they emerge.
- The remit of this role will likely change, so it is crucial you enjoy and embrace new challenges and are willing to learn and support the team.
- Preferably educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a scientific or environmental discipline.
- Data interrogation & interpretation skills are essential, you must have experience working with data and understanding what it is showing.
- Experience in stakeholder/regulator engagement.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
- Self-motivated individual who can use their initiative and problem solve.
- You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and you will need to be proficient in the use of software packages (MS Office & Excel, PowerBI).
