What you will be doing ?
This is an 18 month Fixed Term Contract to underpin the production of Thames Water’s PR24 Business Plan and other regulatory submissions.
The Company’s next Business Plan will be submitted to the industry regulator Ofwat in October 2023, but work is already well underway to develop the Business Plan. You will be a key part of the programme team to ensure delivery of projects to strict deadlines.
Key accountabilities will include
- Provide programme and work package specific reporting and insight to the programme manager and key stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to the standardised approach to programme management adopted across the programme in alignment with Thames Water best practise and Centre of Excellence.
- Provide financial management analysis and support including budgeting, forecasting, raising purchase orders and reconciling purchase orders against invoices.
- Support programme and work packages by providing adhoc analysis.
- Assisting the Programme Manager with defining and updating the programme project management processes, standards and governance
- Responsible for providing support, guidance and coaching to the PR24 team through the maintenance and enhancement of project management guidance and standards.
- Reporting for boards at various level.
- Work closely with the programme manager and work package leads to understand and report on risks, issues and dependencies.
- Ensure that issues and risks are identified, logged and managed in line with the standard processes and escalate to the appropriate stakeholders where necessary.
- Identifying and tracking of cross project dependencies and escalating where necessary
What you will bring to the role?
Excellent communication skills – including verbal, written and presenting to a group
Strong Stakeholder management skills.
Numerate with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience of project management standard methodologies and certification in Prince2, P30 or MSP Methodologies is desirable
Experience of supporting reporting and risk management in complex project, programme or portfolio environment.
Previous experience of working in a Programme, Portfolio or Project environment
Strong planning experience with a proven ability in pulling together many different workstreams into one cohesive plan.
Experience of using MS Office applications Word, PowerPoint, Excel ,Visio, Teams, SharePoint MS Project.
Experience of using MS Office applications and MS SharePoint site management and access control with excellent Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot and Macro development experience (desirable).
Quality focus, must be accurate and have attention to detail.
Very good prioritisation and organisation skills with the ability to meet deadlines
