The London Tideway Tunnels have a London-wide asset base, from Acton in the west to Abbey Mills and Beckton in the east. This role will be based in London at one of our London sites and will involve travel to other sites across London to perform this role.

The Tideway Tunnel is a multi-billion-pound project designed to prevent storm sewage from discharging to the River Thames. The project is well under construction and will be commissioned in a year. Preparations for the maintenance of the system are underway by the deliverer, and preparations are now also required for the preparation of maintenance by Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as a Maintenance Manager

  • Working with Tideway to develop a Reliability Centred Maintenance approach.
  • Assessment of technical information and development of maintenance approach and delivery, through preparing engineering deliverables such as delivery to task specifications, engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and data sheets.
  • Delivery of project outputs, as part of a multi-disciplinary maintenance working group, as we progress from commissioning through to acceptance of all of the Tideway assets.
  • Developing the reporting and then reporting maintenance KPIs and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Supervision of a small team to ensure delivery against objectives.
  • Managing maintenance contracts to ensure delivery against objectives.
  • Prepare and issue Asset Reports.
  • Sponsor and monitor the delivery of Thames Water assets ready for LTT commissioning.

What should you bring to the role?

  • An appropriate technical qualification degree preferably with three years of experience in a related role and previous experience within the wastewater or utilities sectors is desirable but not expected.
  • Alternatively, ONC/HNC with 5+ years’ experience.
  • Good team management and leadership skills.
  • You will be a good team player, have good analytical and interpersonal skills, be an effective communicator and be willing to face challenging issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Base Location: Beckton STW, East London.
  • Working hours: 36 hours per week.

What are the Tideway Tunnel & Environmental Advantages?

  • Tideway is upgrading London’s sewer system to cope with its growing population. Our 25km tunnel will intercept, store, and ultimately transfer sewage waste away from the River Thames. All six Tunnel Boring Machines have now finished their drives marking the completion of the tunnelling phase of the project.
  • Tideway is the company delivering the Thames Tideway Tunnel. It is owned by a consortium of investors, and more than two million pensioners have an indirect investment in Tideway through UK pension funds managed by those investors.
  • More than 400 highly experienced professionals are employed by Tideway to deliver the project, working alongside the company’s four main delivery partners.
  • Preparatory work on the project began in 2015 and construction is now underway at each of our 24 sites in London.
  • The project is anticipated to be completed in 2025. The tunnel will cost £4.4 billion to complete.
  • The scale of the Tideway project and its place at the heart of one of the world’s greatest cities means we have a historic opportunity to leave a positive, lasting legacy for London. We have made more than 50 legacy commitments and many of them will be profound and long-lasting. We’re creating new public spaces in the Thames – the first new land in London for generations; we’re raising the bar for health, safety, and wellbeing in the construction industry; and we are using the river to transport material on an unprecedented scale, bringing jobs and skills back to the river.
  • Similarly, Tideway is creating new areas of the public realm to connect the capital’s residents and visitors with the river more closely than is currently possible. We are creating three acres of new public realm along the route of the River Thames at seven different locations. Parts of the new spaces at Victoria and Chelsea Embankments and at King Edward Memorial Park will be ‘floodable’ at high tides, giving Londoners the first opportunity of its kind to dip their toe in what will be a cleaner River Thames.
  • We are also opening up sections of the Thames Path currently closed to the public and making improvements to the existing route where we can.

What’s in it for you?
