We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our Wastewater network team at Rye Meads STW, site, This role will be field-based and you will be expected to work and travel within the Home Counties area.

As the successful candidate, your role will be supporting our customers and protecting the environment. You will be overseeing our contractors and ensuring they are working safely and efficiently. Working alongside them to resolve defects on our sewer network.

What you’ll be doing as The Network Engineer

  • The day-to-day operation of the waste network includes resolution of sewer collapses, blockages, flooding to customers’ homes, and pollution to watercourses.
  • Taking personal ownership of customer issues i.e. responding to queries, and complaints, and resolving issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards during repairs.
  • Acting as local network expert providing information for risk assessments and sharing information regarding network risks and other health and safety issues.
  • Attending meetings with customers, councils, and the Environment Agency to discuss how best our business can support them.
  • Providing critical on-site information to support the wider Operations team.
  • Supervising contractors to ensure that they are working safely and adhering to company policies & procedures.
  • Performing a rolling 6-week shift pattern, with participation in an out-of-hour standby rota once every six weeks.
  • Base Location: Rye Meads Sewage Works - SG12 8JY or Esher KT10 8AU.
  • Working Pattern or hours: 38 Hours Monday-Friday plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment.

  • Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, you need to be very disciplined have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.
  • Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same.
  • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
  • Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving licence is essential.
