Working in a small, successful, highly collaborative and supportive team, our Full Stack Developers are software engineering professionals. They focus on the development of microservices, APIs and supporting integration elements that are transforming the on-line experience for millions of Thames Water customers.

This role will actively participate in the design, development, automated testing and implementation of solutions for our website. They will work closely with other members of the team to continuously improve how we deliver and enhance the experience for customers.

What you’ll be doing as a Full Stack Developer:

  • Produce high-quality code to aid in the delivery of digital products.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Make recommendations for improvement within the team.
  • Utilise Agile Technical practices; Test Driven development (TDD), Continuous Integration and Delivery, Pair Programming.
  • Collaborate within teams to ensure quality project/product execution and software development cycle.
  • Support others within the team to achieve the best results.

Base Location: Clearwater Court, Reading - Hybrid

Working Pattern or hours – Full Time (36 hours per week)

You will also bring with you:

  • Significant experience as a Full Stack Developer, ideally working on components for websites.
  • Demonstrable practical application of skills across a wide variety of software development techniques and strategies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Net core, containerisation, integration design, software quality tools and automated testing.
  • Some knowledge of javascript (React.js) and website content management solutions would be an advantage.
  • Developing with infrastructure based on Docker, Kubernetes and Microsoft Azure.
  • Working within an agile team to deliver high quality solutions using agile techniques, such as: User Stories, Test Driven development (TDD), continuous integration, continuous testing, automated testing, planning, retrospectives and sprints.
  • Working within a small team using strong communication skills and a desire to work closely and support others through pair programming.
  • Able to communicate clearly with stakeholders, Product Owners and other business representatives to understand their requirements and translate that into delivered, working code.
  • Understanding user stories and translating them into tangible deliverables.
  • Breaking down work into small, quick deliverables that can be released as working code.
  • Supporting the development of shared components and common design approaches to further improve the efficiency of the team.
