What you’ll be doing as a Systems Administrator
This role is in the Logistics Operational Control Centre (LOCC) who are responsible for the deployment of tankers (clean and waste), hire equipment and all logistical requirements to support Thames Water internal and external customers. Your role will form part of the Operational Projects and Logistics team (OPAL) which is the in-house centre of excellence for the complex and diverse logistics functions within the company.

You will be working within a unique cross-functional team, which balances operational demand and strategic thinking. This is a position that will be able to influence decisions at different levels up to senior management and help shape what we do every day and in the future. Key duties will include:

  • Being responsible for the monitoring of a system called ORTEC that schedules and dispatches work to our inhouse drivers and our contractors
  • Ensuring correct system and app usage to provide accurate data for wider reporting
  • Delivering the highest levels of customer service, ensuring a first-class customer experience for both our internal and external customers
  • Working alongside the Logistics Shift Planners and analysing in day HGV logistical movements in alignment with the plan for day
  • Identifying and proactively resolving anomalies in the logistics planning to ensure effective operations
  • Communicating with external suppliers and LMC team members to resolve logistical planning challenges that arise during the day
  • Re-planning logistical work to meet the changing requirements considering financial implications. Resolve ORTEC technical issues as they arise
  • Reviewing operational reports for accuracy and take remedial action where necessary


Job Details

  • This is a Fixed Term Contract until 31.12.2023
  • £24,000 per annum
  • 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00am to 16:00pm
  • This position is based at Kemble Court
  • 100% office based


What you should bring to the role

  • Experience of working under pressure in fast paced environments and meeting demanding targets
  • Passionate about providing excellent customer service, someone who can really engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organised and understand work management processes and systems preferred
  • Have excellent IT skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and have the ability to pick up the use of multiple IT systems / software
  • Possess meticulous attention to detail & accuracy
  • Have excellent time management skills in the completion of key tasks within set deadlines
