We're hiring a Project Engineer for Thames Water Sewage Treatment Works in the Aylesbury area! This is your perfect role if you love working on hands-on mechanical and electrical projects.

This role will ensure that our sewage networks run smoothly and efficiently, protect our communities and the environment, and deliver essential life services. Join our team and make a difference!

What you’ll be doing as a Project Engineer

  • Managed and delivered a portfolio of mechanical, electrical, civil, control and instrumentation projects valued at up to £5 million annually.
  • Working closely with Thames Water operations, including Process Improvement Engineers and our contractor supply chain, to scope, specify, and cost-quality solutions that are fit for purpose and value for money.
  • Ability to think quickly, decisively, challenge, and develop interim reactive solutions for maintenance issues that must be resolved promptly.
  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements, ensuring that all projects built and designed comply with the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM).
  • Overseeing the commissioning and handover of the project to the operational client.
  • Ensure appropriate training has been completed and completion documents, including test certificates and constructed drawings, are available and handed over.
  • Aylesbury Sewage Treatment Works.
  • 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday, based on site 5 days a week.

Must be a driver and have access to a car to travel to sites.

What you should bring to the role

  • Hold an HNC/HND or a degree in Engineering. Alternatively, have a strong knowledge of being hands-on in the Mechanical and Electrical industry.
  • Enjoy being hands-on and proactive on-site to ensure it runs at always required capacity levels.
  • Be technically and commercially astute, with a proven engineering background.
  • Ability to investigate, scope and specify engineering solutions for plant modernisation and refurbishment.

  • Competitive salary between £41,000 - £51,000 per annum.
  • Car Allowance of £4,500 per annum.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays).
  • Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution.
