As Health Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you will support the Head of department on the delivery of Thames Water’s Health & Safety strategy and take ownership of Health, Safety & Wellbeing risks, and relevant elements of the Safety Management System.

What you will be doing as a Health Safety & well-being manager

  • Work with Health, Safety & Wellbeing Senior Management to ensure appropriate implementation of the delivery plan for the geographic regions.
  • Strengthen the management of investigations to ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of preventative and corrective actions.
  • Undertake site inspections, and assurance visits focusing on high and medium-risk sites to deliver the 5-year assurance program.
  • Build valuable internal and external relationships with stakeholders, supply chain partners, and regulators.
  • Inclusion with the ‘on-call’ Health, Safety & Wellbeing ‘24/7’ rota to ensure functional support for incident management.
  • The base location for the role is Reading, Clearwater Court.
  • Working hours: 36 hours per week.

What you should bring to the role

  • NEBOSH Diploma  and have or working towards CMIOSH.
  • In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety and Wellbeing legislation, and its practical application.
  • Ability to negotiate flexibly and constructively at the highest levels.
  • Expertise relating to specific risks in Water, Wastewater, and /or Construction would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of handling chemicals and/or toxic gas and liquid and/or knowledge of street works and excavations would be beneficial
  • Ideally knowledge of process safety 
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Competitive salary from £60,000 per annum to £70,000 per annum depending on skills and experience + car allowance £5,800.
