We have a great opportunity for you! to join us permanently as an ICA Manager.

The role will be leading and developing a team of Skilled ICA (Instrument, Control and Automation) technicians whose duty is to maintain and repair plant and equipment. The ICA manager will maintain operational performance within strict quality targets for Water Treatment Works, Pumping Stations and Reservoirs across South East London and Ring Main, providing drinking water to approximately £3.5 million customers. The main base for the role will be Orpington Water Treatment Works but travel will be expected around the area.

What you’ll be doing as an ICA Manager

  • Process Management: Ensuring ICA equipment is maintained and operated to the correct standards, improving process compliance.
  • Financial Management: Owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget.
  • Performance Management: Ensuring the team achieve optimal performance in terms of work management, developing the team and introducing new skills including health & safety awareness.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management: You will be responsible for providing technical advice to internal and external project teams, as well as maintenance and efficiency optimisation.
  • Health and Safety: Effectively manage the Health and Safety of the team as well as auditing the Health and Safety system & processes.
  • Learning and Development: Continually improve the performance, standards, and capability of the team.
  • This is a Monday-to-Friday position.

What you should bring to the role

  • We are looking for someone who has been working within a similar working environment, with an Instrument, Control and Automation or engineering background, preferably working in an industrial field and who has previously had the health and safety responsibility for individuals and sites and also managed a team within an operational function alongside this.
  • Excellent IT skills and a technical bias are essential.
  • The ability to guide and develop people is a crucial skill in this role so you must have previous management experience with good communication, interpersonal and organisation skills.
  • Ideally, you will have gained your experience within the water industry or utilities sector however, this is not essential as training will be provided.
