We are seeking a dynamic Part Qualified Management Accountant to be responsible for performing general accounting functions in addition to the communication and promotion of financial position, insight, governance and control within the business. You will join a dedicated, friendly finance team where you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge of Thames Water Operations.

What you will be doing as Management Accountant

  • Support the recording, reconciliation and analysis of accounting activities and period end close activities in accordance with agreed close schedules and timetables.
  • Perform reconciliations of key control data including GL balances and supporting schedules including accruals, provisions, pre-payments and inventory.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, looking to automate and eliminate where possible.
  • Provide Insight into results during period end close to the FP&A and Business Partner teams, relating to the key cost drivers. E.g., Job volumes, Water Production levels.
  • Working across the wider finance team to document, align and improve processes, to drive efficiency and consistency.
  • Production and preparation of audited financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and coordination of year-end audit.
  • Production and preparation to support the regulatory accounting returns, including monitoring of external reporting requirements and researching accounting issues.
  • Support compliance with accounting standards and Thames Water control frameworks, including communicating with internal stakeholders to ensure core system data is clean and accurate.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for analytics, through the agreed demand management framework to provide support to Business Partners for costs visibility, business case preparation and investigation into financial performance.

 

 What you should bring to the role

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with leadership, key stakeholders, employees.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise multiple projects to meet deadlines and produce high quality work in a fast paced environment.
  • Be a  team player but also take ownership to complete tasks independently.
  • Part Qualified (CIMA/ACCA) 
  • Systems experience with SAP would be beneficial.
  • Management Accounting experience ideally within a utility or construction business but this is not essential.
  • Financial analysis skills and good Excel knowledge.
