We have an exciting opportunity for a Slow Sand Filter Performance Manager to join a successful highly performing team in Water Production. This role is a high-profile role where you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Thames Water's largest Water Production Treatment works.
As the successful candidate, we will require you to lead and develop a team of operatives as well as manage the performance of one of the main treatment processes for producing clean drinking water for London. The role also requires you to safely achieve specific operational outputs to the required standards across the business, within budget and deadlines.
- Base Location: Ashford Common - TW15 1RU.
- Working Pattern or hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-15:36, 36 hours per week plus the inclusion of a call-out rota every 6 weeks where you will receive additional payment.
- Competitive salary up to £44,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
What you’ll be doing as a Performance Manager
- Controlling and auditing site activity, ensuring the safety of the team, contractors and other third parties through the consistent application of company Health & Safety policy.
- Managing a team of Slow Sand Filter Operators and a Working Supervisor to perform effectively against internal and external targets.
- Delivering increasing levels of customer experience and optimising service delivery.
- Preparing reports and presentations for key stakeholders as required.
- Ensuring the team is in line with production plans and service agreements are met.
- Working with the Technical team to ensure assets are available and in sound working order.
- Managing budgets and costs to ensure you are meeting and exceeding tight financial targets while maintaining quality.
- Ensuring the continued operability of the Slow Sand Filter team’s mobile plant, by certifying effective maintenance, helping diagnose faults and working with the mobile plant maintenance contractors.
- You may be required to participate in an out-of-hours roster with the management team.
What you should bring to the role
- We are looking for someone who has previous experience managing and supporting a team whilst coordinating team activity. The ideal candidate will be someone who can develop and encourage people within a team setting.
- Previous water experience would be beneficial as well as knowing the clean water process. But not essential.
- Previous industry experience would be beneficial, as would previous operation of a mobile plant.
- You will have good communication and interpersonal skills, alongside excellent organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and a demonstrable ability to manage workload under pressure.
- You will be confident in your ability to present key findings and liaise with managers of all levels.
- A strong background in process management with excellent skills in operations, engineering, finance, H&S, stakeholder engagement and customer focus is essential.
- Due to the nature of the role, a valid, UK driving licence is required.
