We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Technician to join our waste team to work on approximately 256 waste pumping stations in the Esher area.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to perform a range of activities to ensure that all equipment associated with our Waste Pumping Stations is running safely and efficiently and to assist the technicians with their technical duties.
Base Location: Esher STW KT10 however this is a field-based role covering the home counties and Thames Valley area.
Working Pattern or hours: Monday-Friday 7:30-15:36. 38 hours per week including working on a 1 in 6 call out rota where you will receive additional payment.
What you’ll be doing as a Process Technician
- Monitoring and inspecting equipment, following a checklist to carry out planned preventative maintenance, and ensuring equipment/generators/telemetry are operating correctly.
- Reporting any defective equipment, to ensure a swift resolution following any breakdowns.
- Highlighting, and resolving where possible, any health and safety risks on site.
- Taking ownership of your own, and colleagues, health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager and resolving them yourself where possible.
- Make sure the work area is safe before commencing any work by undertaking a point-of-work risk assessment using your PDA device.
- Having an awareness of budget position and how unplanned events can impact the budget. (e.g., tanker/plant/pump hire, etc.)
- Working at other sites covering holiday/sickness / extra workload as and when required. Liaising with the planning and scheduling team to ensure your workload is managed correctly.
- Using a PDA device to record work orders being completed.
- Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications, identifying issues, and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements.
What you should bring to the role
- Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, you need to be very disciplined have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
- Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.
- Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same.
- Experience diagnosing basic mechanical and instrumentational issues is desirable. But not essential.
- Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
- Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
- Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving licence is essential.
