This is a fantastic career opportunity for someone with engineering project management experience to join a highly collaborative and supportive team in our Capital Maintenance Projects and deliver modern and innovative solutions to our operational sites.

In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of a large portfolio of capital projects, providing MEICA and Civil engineering construction solutions for wastewater, water production, waste and water network functions, above and below ground.

Internally, this role is referred to as a Delivery Manager.

What you’ll be doing as an Engineering Project Delivery Manager

We are seeking a commercially astute and motivated person to provide MEICA and Civil Engineering construction solutions, to the process and network functions across Thames Water, on both Clean and Wastewater Assets. You will ensure that the health and safety requirements, quality standards, contractual specifications, commercial objectives, and program deadlines are met promptly.

The main areas of focus will include:

  • Being an integral part of the growing Capital Maintenance Projects team.
  • Managing the procurement process, framework suppliers and sub-contractor supply chain involved in the delivery of site-based construction activities.
  • Being directly responsible for resource management and the training, development, and support of directly managed Project Engineers.
  • Providing estimates, programming, and planning support to the wider team.
  • Ensuring delivery of all construction projects on the program with 100% compliance to client specifications.
  • Managing the client’s site requirements ensuring minimal impact to the operational functionality of the site.
  • Delivering all projects within legislative, CDM and regulatory requirements, including Health & Safety, Environmental and HR.

Base location – This position will cover the Thames Valley area so you will be required to work out of multiple sites in the Thames Valley such as Swindon, Newbury and Reading. There will be requirement to be office based 5 days per week.

Working Hours are 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

 What you should bring to the role

  • Background within Utilities or Engineering sectors is essential.
  • Experience managing a team is essential to succeed in this role.
  • Have experience within an engineering role is desirable.
  • Hold a relevant Health & Safety qualification. (NEBOSH or similar)
  • Possess a tenacious and resilient personality with the ability to work with confidence in a Challenging, Reactive environment.
  • An understanding of basic civil engineering works, contract law, planning, estimating and tendering.
  • Manage up to 10 staff, and all stakeholder key interfaces internal and external.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have your own transport.
