We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team and help us improve our financial focus in the Operations Water sections for both London and Home Counties. In this role, you will lead the closing of Water Management accounts and provide insightful commentary and assurance of numbers for both London and Thames Valley Home Counties.

What you will be doing as a Management Accountant

  • Support the recording, reconciliation and analysis of accounting activities and period end close activities in accordance with agreed close schedules and timetables.
  • Working across the wider finance team to document, align and improve processes, to drive efficiency and consistency. 
  • Production and preparation to support the regulatory accounting returns, including monitoring of external reporting requirements and researching accounting issues.
  • Provide Insight into results during period end close to the FP&A and Business Partner teams, relating to the key cost drivers. E.g. bioresource costing, asset failure impacts and event tracking 
  • Guide, mentor and support the Apprentice for whom you will have role responsibility for
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for analytics, through the agreed demand management framework to provide support to Business Partners for costs visibility, business case preparation and investigation into financial performance.

What you should bring to the role?

  • CIMA or ACCA Finalist or newly qualified Accountant 
  • Solid management accounting experience
  • Ability to interact with leadership, key stakeholders and the wider team
  • Experience of effectively prioritising multiple projects to meet deadlines and produce high quality work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Must be able to work to a high standard against multiple tight deadlines 
  • A team player but also take ownership to complete tasks independently
