We are looking for someone to join our Thames Valley North Operations Team in Wastewater which offers a brilliant opportunity for you to establish a career with Thames Water in frontline operations.

You will guide and develop a team of multi-skilled Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) Technicians.

You will operate out of the main site at Oxford but will visit other sites making a driving licence and car owner essential as you will need to travel throughout your working week.

You will drive their performance and improve overall engagement, whilst managing in line with established HR policies & processes.

  • 36 hours a week Monday to Friday, along with participating in an out-of-hours rota for escalations and advice for which you will receive additional payment.
  • Offering a salary up to £45,000 depending on skills and experience.
  • Permanent, full time.

What you’ll be doing as the THP Performance Manager

  • Increasing asset availability and performance within strict quality targets is key to the success of this role and will be achieved with a strong health & safety focus.
  • Health and Safety – This is our number 1 priority for everyone in our team and you will effectively lead the Health & Safety culture of the team as well as driving and creating an environment where good practices are a way of everyday life and total compliance is adhered to.
  • We need to protect our environment, and we are looking for someone who can effectively performance manage our Sewage Treatment Works site compliance by ensuring the site achieves and maintains its required plant availability and reliability to meet quality targets that are set by our regulator.
  • Driving the team to achieve optimal performance in terms of work management, along with being responsible for developing the team and introducing new skills and Health & Safety awareness.
  • Owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management - ensuring exceptional service to our customers with early personal interventions as required.

What should you bring to the role?

  • An experienced people-manager with a proven track record of engaging & developing teams; ideally with site-based industrial or municipal process teams.
  • Ability to lead and achieve results in a difficult environment with a strong focus on, and good working knowledge of, health and safety.
  • Experience in managing an operational budget with a structured and proactive approach. 
  • A good communicator and competent in using IT equipment/systems and able to interpret complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Qualifications should include an engineering HNC/HND or equivalent.
  • BOAS and/or WAMITAB qualifications will be beneficial, but training will be given to the right candidate.
  • Due to the nature of this role a full valid driving licence is needed.
