We have a great opportunity for you to join Thames Water as a Business Support Administrator. This is a permanent part-time position.

Based on the site from Farmoor Water Treatment Works, just outside Cumnor, you will provide first-class administrative support to the Oxford Production Team.  You will do this by assisting with operational tasks, raising purchase orders, and compiling spreadsheets/key reports for finance, H&S, and compliance. You will be adaptable, welcome change and promote continuous improvement.

  • 18 Hours Monday to Friday – This role offers great flexibility you can choose to work 3x a week 6 hours daily or 4x a week 4.5 hours daily.
  • Farmoor WTW, OX2 9NS.

What you will be doing as a Business Support Administrator?

This is an opportunity to use and develop your operational knowledge, and data interpretation skills and deliver exceptional customer service.

Key to the role is collaboration and stakeholder engagement, both within and outside of Water Production.

Our overarching plan is to provide our customers with a continuous supply of safe, clean and palatable drinking water – by focusing on our five key priorities – our people, health & safety, water quality, risk & resilience, and efficiency.

  • Promote positive H&S behaviors across the team. Raise safety observations and actions from field staff promptly on the Thames Water H&S management system. Run weekly/monthly reports track progress and drive performance. Manage the area H&S tracker to ensure monthly targets are met by the management team and COMAH lite sites.
  • Promote ‘site pride’ throughout the team and support with delivery of actions to achieve certification.
  • Work with the performance manager to assist with the smooth running of the team and support the controller of premises activities. Support management team with updates to ‘Our Sites’ and What3Words system.
  • Engage with our facilities management contractor to raise and resolve issues identified by the wider team.
  • Ensure key information is kept up to date as changes occur within the operation teams and the wider team has the tools and equipment needed to do their role.
  • Support tracking and management of reservoir, water quality and health and safety actions.
  • Monitor stock and chemical levels to maintain area and team resilience.
  • Raise purchase orders for parts, equipment and chemicals. Track orders and maintain awareness of budget position. Ensuring compliance to business rules, and cost centres correctly used and raising waivers as required. Ensure regular receipting is carried out of chemicals/fuel and monthly inventory management.
  • Manage meeting room bookings and induct visitors to sites.
  • Assist performance and site managers with customer contacts to ensure we maintain a harmonious relationship with our customers.

What you should bring to the role?

  • Significant experience working in a related role; e.g., for engineering roles, relevant technical expertise typically derived from a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of the operation of the area where the job operates.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills, including strong customer focus.
  • Good organisational skills, personally very well organised.
  • Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems and Office software.
