What you’ll be doing as a Principal Engineer
- Plan the design activities for an extensive portfolio of projects, from concept design through feasibility and de-risking activities to contract award. Manage and monitor these activities to meet or outperform the project milestones and allocated budgets.
- Responsible for the Technical Assurance of detailed designs by contractors, design change reviews and waiver applications during construction.
- Provided the Project Teams with the support they needed during the commissioning and handover of assets.
- As required, act as the key contact for the Contract Design Management regulations designer or Principal Designer role.
- Undertake Health and Safety inspections of construction sites and work with the construction engineers to always reach higher and improve our Health and safety performance.
- Competent in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation, and control. The ability to de-risk and add value is a key skill for this position.
Hybrid—Clearwater Court or Oxford Sewage Treatment Works: You will be required to work on-site or in the office three days a week, as the business requires.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
A driver's licence and access to a car would be beneficial for this role. The role comes with a £5.8k car allowance.
What you should bring to the role
- We seek someone with an engineering or other relevant degree and chartered status.
- Have a background in managing successful, relevant activities, e.g., capital projects. You will be experienced in delivering quality work with an excellent customer focus.
- Demonstrating your capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making and using your excellent verbal and written skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Internal and external stakeholder communication skills.
- You will have knowledge and experience in delivering major engineering infrastructure projects valued at up to and above £100m in an infrastructure regulatory environment.
- Have a background in risk-based and analytical decision-making for complex investment decisions.
- Process design engineering capability and knowledge including advanced treatment processes, such as IFAS, MBR, SBR, Nereda, THP, Pyrolysis, etc.
- Have a background in people management and leading a team.

- Competitive salary from £52,000 to £75,000 per annum.
- This role will come with a car allowance of £5.800
- 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
