As the Business Continuity Specialist, you are responsible for supporting the business to build, maintain, test and exercise business continuity and disaster recovery plans to support the resilience of the organisation. You are responsible for building relationships with subject matter experts and internal teams to enable effective risk assessment, preparation, response and recovery.
This key role will enable Thames Water to improve its resilience and minimise risk to keep the business running efficiently in the event of a disruption.
What you’ll be doing as a Business Continuity Specialist
- responsible for building relationships with subject matter experts and internal teams to enable effective risk assessment, preparation, response and recovery.
- Create and maintain business continuity training and support materials.
- Develop and deliver testing and exercising programmes for business continuity and crisis management.
- Use specialist knowledge, and internal and external sources of information to ensure that we have plans to deal with the next ‘big thing’.
- Continuous improvement of practice resulting in excellent internal audit reviews and to build confidence in senior leadership that the programme is sound and fit for purpose.
- Support the wider team in the delivery of crisis management, emerging risk and other relevant tasks.
Base Location – Hybrid – Kemble Court RG2 6AD
Working hours – 36 hours
Requirements for the role - occasional travel to various Thames Water locations in the London and Thames Valley region
What you should bring to the role
- Understanding the concepts of business continuity.
- Creating and delivering training materials.
- Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders both virtually and in person.
- Business Continuity qualification or working towards one.
- To be able to design and deliver tests and exercises to ensure the plans are fit for purpose
- Delivering a business continuity programme.
