We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join us at Thames. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for all the commercial and operational aspects of contracts within your department. You will join one of our established and expanding Commercial Teams, and throughout your career at Thames Water, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging in value from £25,000 to £200M. You will be commercially ensuring Thames Water meets all its contractual, legal and commercial obligations whilst engaging and advising professional service colleagues such as Senior Management Accountants and Operations Managers.

What you’ll be doing as the Quantity Surveyor

  • Mentoring a team of Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators.
  • Taking the Commercial lead on the Clean Water Repair & Maintenance framework for all Water Network regions - Thames Valley, North London & South London.
  • Managing all aspects of a £50m portfolio of suppliers working off an SoR-based contract.
  • Attending sites to carry out measurements and value work.
  • Advising project stakeholders of commercial-related issues.
  • Hosting monthly commercial meetings.
  • Calculating and reporting monthly VOWD position to the business finance partner.
  • Leading the dispute resolution process.
  • Providing advice on contractual claims.
  • Managing assessment and certification of monthly Applications for Payments. (AFP)
  • Processing subcontract payments on SAP.
  • Managing plant suppliers - keeping track of hire reports and processing invoices.

Base Location - Hybrid - Brixton (WTW), Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB, Hybrid - Maple Lodge (STW) - WD3 9SQ.

36 hours per week, Monday-Friday.

What you should bring to the role

  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have your own transport.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in managing operational contracts. (either a large-scale, high-value contract or a portfolio of contracts)
  • A strong technical understanding of commercial and contract management.
  • Negotiation and dispute resolution experience.
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to deliver information and influence internal & external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong MS Office skills, ability to work to deadlines and highly organised.
  • Hold an HND or equivalent or higher in a construction-related diploma/ degree.
