As part of the Technical Support for the Thames Water Electronic Security Systems, the Security System Engineer will be responsible for the hardware and software/firmware for CCTV systems, Entry Access Systems, Intruder Detection Systems, current and Legacy.
What you’ll be doing as a Security Systems Engineer
- Identify issues & provide solutions to generate internal projects
- System improvements and solutions implementation of internal projects and event lessons learnt
- Provide asset, alarm and event data reports
- 1st line Fault finding, System analysis, for the Alarm Monitoring Centre(AMC) with remote 3rd line support for our contractors, on but not limited to: Intruder Detection System, CCTV, Electronic Access Control Systems, to include Support and
- Use of the change request and incident platform in Support of: Alarm Receiving Centre, Project teams and Operations hardware support for ESS platform
- Undertake system health check and technology template maintenance and support
- Maintaining the ESS estate software and configuration standards to support the operational business. Provide technical support into the development and maintenance of the OT strategy standards and procedures.
Base location – Hybrid – Reading (STW) RG2 0RP with travel to other sites
Necessary requirements for the role – Must have a valid UK driving licence
Applicant will need CTC Security Clearance as part of the role
What you should bring to the role
Essential
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office and email.
- Be able to self-motivate
- Have the ability to work from home
- Extensive experience in an engineering discipline or working in security.
- Working with enterprise level integrated Electronic Security Systems or SCADA systems
- Must be able to confidently and accurately articulate technical issues well to stake holders and contractors.
- IP Networking experience
- Flexible to support 24/7 on call cover.
Desirable
- HNC or higher, in Electrical Engineering ideally security system.
- Strong working knowledge in the fundamentals of CCTV and Access control, and IDS. With the ability to ability to support non-technical personnel
- Strong first- and third-line support which includes fault finding, System analysis, 3rd party support on but not limited to: Intruder Detection System, CCTV, Electronic Access Control Systems
- Very good technical knowledge of communications and network diagnostics, including ADSL, Satellite and fibre communications, keeping up with current best industry practice
