We are looking for an Environmental Contracts & Campaigns Manager to join Thames Water on a permanent basis to support the delivery of improved Environmental Performance across our Wastewater Networks through the delivery of our Targeted Catchment Investigations and customer campaigns.
Location: You will cover the whole of Thames Water Region.
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
The role would suit a highly skilled and motivated operational manager with contract management experience, ideally related to the management of wastewater networks with a background in pollution, flooding and blockage management.
This is an exciting role to reduce the number of sewer spills where you will be own and be accountable for all elements of this workstream, developing and driving performance of this area by leading your direct team, contract partners supported by effective internal and external stakeholder engagement.
To support the customer campaigns, you will be working in conjunction with our marketing and communications team to develop, target and deliver our strategy in educating about sewer misuse, leading our customer and stakeholder education activities that aim to prevent customer sewer abuse.
What you will be doing as an Environmental Contracts & Campaigns Manager?
- Delivery of the Targeted Catchment Investigations (TCI) activities. Reducing the number of pollutions, sewer floodings and blockages that occur from Thames Waters wastewater network To date the activity has been operated as a trial which is now in the process of being scaled up across the business.
- You will be accountable for onboarding suppliers and carrying out full roll-out across Thames Water.
- Contractor Management - you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of suppliers delivering the field elements of your workstreams.
- You will be accountable for the Health and Safety management of the field teams carrying out the TCI process, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with TW procedures.
- Delivery and control of intervention work – you will be responsible for delivering the work required to fix the issues, through your own contractors and by directing work elsewhere in Thames Water.
- You will be accountable for the budget and financial performance of the teams.
- You will be accountable for the management and development of staff within the teams.
- Proactively engage and influence stakeholders both internally and externally, and develop sustainable, long-lasting relationships both with our business and our regulators.
- Developing and implementing educational programs to inform customers about sewer abuse.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, community groups, and regulatory bodies. This involves regular communication and collaboration to address concerns and promote best practices.
- Organising and participating in public outreach events, such as workshops, conferences, and community meetings, to raise awareness about sewer abuse and promote responsible behaviour · Assisting in the development and review of policies related to sewer abuse. Providing input based on field observations and stakeholder feedback.
- You will liaise with teams across the business, including front-line operational teams as well as marketing and communications, legal, environmental compliance, commercial and procurement and regulation teams.
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
- A passion to improve our environmental performance.
- Water industry experience and/or experience in a similar type of role of education and enforcement.
- Experience in driving performance through direct and indirect teams.
- Understanding of waste network operations.
- Experience in positively influencing and working collaboratively with all levels of an organisation to achieve improved business outcomes.
- Full driving licence as travel is required.
